What is Peppol?
Peppol is a pan-European network for exchanging electronic business documents. It connects buyers and sellers across borders through certified Access Points — like email for invoices. When you send an invoice via Peppol, it arrives in a structured format that the recipient’s system can process automatically. No manual data entry, no format mismatches. Peppol is already mandatory for public procurement in many EU countries and is rapidly growing in the B2B sector. Billstride generates Peppol-compliant CII XML that you can submit through any Access Point.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Peppol network?
Peppol is a standardized network for exchanging electronic business documents across borders. It uses certified Access Points to route invoices between buyers and sellers — like email, but for structured business data.
Do I need a Peppol Access Point?
To send invoices through the Peppol network, yes. Billstride generates the compliant XML — you then submit it through an Access Point provider. You can also send the XML directly by email if your recipient accepts that.
Which countries use Peppol?
Peppol is mandatory for public procurement in many EU countries including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands. It’s growing rapidly in the B2B sector across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
What format does Billstride generate?
Billstride generates CII (Cross Industry Invoice) XML conforming to EN 16931 with the Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 business process identifier. This is accepted by all Peppol Access Points that support CII.
Can I also generate ZUGFeRD or XRechnung?
Yes. The same invoice can be exported as ZUGFeRD (PDF+XML), Factur-X (French variant), or XRechnung (German public sector XML). All formats share the same EN 16931 data model.
Does Peppol cost extra?
No. The Peppol-compliant XML export is included in the standard $0.30 per invoice. Access Point fees from your provider may apply separately.
